When I hop off the bus above Sausalito after a long day of staring down my computer, this magnificent tree is what greets me. Massive, majestic, with arms outstretched. It feels like it's reaching out to me, welcoming me home, and I want to go up to it's smooth trunk and give it a huge hug. If it weren't for the bush covered, steep embankment it is rooted in, I would do just that. Well, maybe not. The suited business men and women that depart the bus with me, scrambling to their cars, would likely think me crazy and although I try not to, I still care what people think. Would you randomly go hug a tree in front of your co-commuters? I think not.
