It was a great Easter morning. Trail running minutes from my front door in the rising sun. Through single track, really just a deer trail. On the way up I couldn't really run, had to duck through thick bushes of wild orchids and much poison oak. Being the first one on the trail in the morning is a joy but it is also always rife with spiderwebs. Parts of the trail were muddy and rutted. Then I came out on top of the ridge to wide open space and a perfect trail. The sea was to my right, although I couldn't see it for the fog. There were wild orchids and irises and forget-me-nots and brambles and coyote poop and it was glorious! It was a short run but so satisfying. Fresh air, solitude, smell of damp earth. Great way to start the day.
