Training plans

OK. I'm really hungry so this won't be long but I'm committed to writing frequently. I will begin serious training for my Mont Blanc expedition on the 1st of February. This adventure will be the 2nd annual Sacred Trek to raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund. I originally became involved with this organization because of my friend Pam. Pam has done many Peak Hikes and bike rides for the Breast Cancer Fund. One day she handed me a postcard from the organization inviting her to climb Mt. Shasta in California for the cause. She couldn't do it because of knee issues but thought I might be interested. Well, the first thing that caught my attention was the climb and the adventure, I must admit. But when I thought about it I realized Pam and I had many mutual friends in the SF Bay Area who had suffered from breast cancer. I also have friends in Maui who have had it. Pam and I lost a teammate from our old rowing team. I decided to climb Mt. Shasta. Since that initial invite I have met and befriended many more survivors. Last year I did the inaugural Sacred Trek in Bhutan for the cause. This coming summer I will attempt the summit of Mont Blanc in the Alps. I am committed to this organization in particular because they are dedicated to prevention. They fight to eliminate the environmental toxins that lead to the disease. They fight against cosmetic companies who use dangerous ingredients. They are also a small organization (22 employees) running on a small budget. If you'd like to support this very worthy cause you can donate on line at http://www.breastcancerfund.org/09sacredtrek/mdejournette
Gotta go eat!
